Mercer County Food Insecurity Index

Too many people in Mercer County face food insecurity, meaning that, at times, they lack the money and other resources to buy enough food for their households. Ensuring everyone has sufficient fresh, healthy, affordable food is a critical and complicated issue. No single measure of food insecurity can help drive local efforts to meet people’s food needs.

THT developed the Mercer County Food Insecurity Index to highlight the prevalence and distribution of food insecurity throughout the county. It will also help partner organizations make data-driven decisions about how best to meet the community’s food needs. The food index will lead to more targeted interventions and effective strategies for our stakeholders.
